In today's IT world, companies face increasing pressure to optimize resources, reduce operational costs, and ensure business continuity. Our client, a financial services company with over 200 employees, operated with a dispersed infrastructure of physical servers dedicated to critical applications such as CRM, email, and databases. Each server ran at 30% capacity, representing a waste of hardware, energy, and data center space. Moreover, management was complex: the IT team spent hours on maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting, leaving little time for innovation.

After evaluating several alternatives, we decided to implement Proxmox VE, an open-source virtualization platform based on KVM and LXC. Our goal was to consolidate physical servers into a high-availability cluster, reducing the number of machines from 12 to just 3, and improve centralized management. As we mentioned in our article on Advanced Home Automation with Home Assistant for Offices, energy efficiency and automation are key in any modern infrastructure, and Proxmox allowed us to apply those principles at the server level.
We designed a three-node Proxmox cluster, each with latest-generation processors, 128 GB of RAM, and NVMe storage in RAID configuration. We used Ceph for distributed storage, providing redundancy and scalability. The migration of virtual machines was performed live, without service interruption, thanks to Proxmox's live migration feature.

The implementation included:
For platform security, we applied best practices documented in our article on TLS Certificates, securing all communications with automatically renewed certificates.

The results were compelling. In the first six months, we achieved:
Virtualization with Proxmox not only transformed our infrastructure but also freed up resources for the IT team to focus on strategic initiatives. This experience in server virtualization positions us as leaders in the success stories category, and we are convinced that Proxmox is the ideal choice for companies looking to modernize their data center without relying on expensive licenses.
