Magellan Partners lands in Spain: the consultancy that promises to close the circle between strategy, technology and execution

The Spanish market for business and technology consulting has just received a new heavyweight competitor. Magellan Partners, a French group with pan-European ambitions, has announced its entry into Spain through the acquisition of MeTS and the digital banking activities of Worldline. The move is not a simple purchase: it aims to create an actor capable of covering the entire value chain, from strategic consulting to the operation of digital solutions, including design and implementation.

According to a company statement, the goal is to become “a unique international player, capable of guiding public and private clients throughout the entire value chain: from strategic consulting and the design of sovereign digital solutions tailored to their needs, to implementation, deployment and operation in business and technology consulting.”

Michel Hatiez, co-founder and CEO of Magellan, emphasized that “with this integration, Magellan brings together the means to become a leading player in the Public Sector and Healthcare in Europe, particularly in France.” The bet on the Spanish market is therefore another step in that direction.

What does MeTS bring to the equation?

The acquisition of MeTS is no coincidence. This organization serves large national companies through ready-to-use commercial software solutions. Its capabilities include end-to-end SaaS platforms for comprehensive consumer credit management, advanced loyalty engines, and fuel card management with instant discounts. For Magellan, this accelerates a fundamental shift: from being a traditional consultancy to a provider with its own product.

“Companies and organizations, whether large private firms, mid-sized companies, SMEs, or public institutions, are no longer simply looking for a consultancy or a technology integrator,” the statement explains. “They want a partner capable of articulating strategic vision, technological mastery, and concrete implementation to orchestrate their digital, organizational, and sustainable transformation end-to-end. In a market transformed by AI, this continuity between consulting, technology, and execution is critical.”

This vision resonates with current industry trends, where vertical integration is becoming a competitive advantage. As we analyzed in our article on AI agent governance, the ability to execute from strategy to operation is increasingly in demand.

Differentiation by sectors and digital sovereignty

According to Hatiez, the company’s differentiation “comes first and foremost from deep knowledge of sectors such as public administrations, social operators, and healthcare, which we leverage to address the major challenges of the State: rapid transformation, administrative simplification, improved user relations, digital sovereignty, and resilience against threats. It is this sector expertise, combined with our technological mastery and execution capability, that allows us to offer the level of trust, continuity, sovereignty, and performance these actors require.”

The group brings together in a single entity consulting (business, sectoral, and IT systems), mastery of the main market platforms (Microsoft, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Pega, SAP, AWS, Google), and the ability to design, develop, and operate customized and strategic digital solutions 24/7 for its clients’ core business.

This combination is unusual. While many consultancies focus on strategy or implementation, Magellan aims to cover both ends. In a context where open source security and energy efficiency are priorities, having a partner that understands both technology and business can make a difference.

Ready-to-use solutions and customization

Magellan Partners is now able to design, build, and operate specific solutions for its clients, as well as leverage a portfolio of ready-to-use software that can be activated immediately. These cover strategic areas such as omnichannel interactions (with CX Suite), mobility and transport (e-ticketing, mobility as a service, open payment), trust services (digital workplace, digital passport), human resources, property management, and sustainability.

For IT professionals and companies, Magellan Partners’ arrival in Spain represents an interesting alternative. In a market where digital transformation is a necessity, having a partner that offers continuity between consulting and execution can simplify project management and reduce misalignment risks. Moreover, its focus on digital sovereignty and critical sectors such as healthcare and public administration positions it as a relevant player in the Spanish technology ecosystem.

As we have seen in other cases, such as GitHub and its strategy to win back developers, integrating capabilities is key to delivering real value. Magellan Partners seems to have understood that lesson and applies it to its entry into Spain.
